Holly is now 9 1/2 weeks old and just passed her second month birthday! Time continues to fly for us. During the last month, Holly has really grown socially. She likes to look around and can study things that are farther away now. She smiles and likes to talk now too! Other things that Holly has learned to do this last month include, playing on her own by "Dancing" her arms and legs. She likes to kick her crib piano and to play music. Holly has held some of her new plastic rings in her hands with help. Right now we actually have some dangling from her monkey gym and she grabs them on accident, but she will hang on for quite awhile! She also has learned to suck her thumb, but is still working on perfecting the process. Holly loves playtime, reading stories, and interacting with Mom, Dad, and any visitors. She watched her very first episode (most of one) of Sesame Street and really like it. She cooed and danced when the music came on and was visually entertained too. I also found youtube videos of graphics for babies that are made for the patterns she is starting to notice and the colors she is supposed to be noticing. I played the video once on my phone for her and oh she was captivated. Her favorite parts are the dancing dots and when the red comes in. I don't want to use too many videos with her, but it is neat what they do have out there. Some of my favorite moments are when she smiles at me. The other night she was crying about 5 am, when I am supposed to be sleeping and I walk over to her bassinet and she broke out into these huge smiles so happy to see me. It melts your heart and definitely makes your I haven't slept and why are you crying again? grumpies go right away. She smiles more and more at you. Likewise, she is getting better at pouting and it makes me so sad when she makes her sad face! Another cute thing that I want to remember in the future is how she wiggles her cute little butt during diaper changes. She will just wiggle those hips side to side like she's doing a little diaper dance. Too cute!
On the physical side of her growth, Holly is now 9.72 pounds and 21.75 inches long. She also has a big head for her weight because she's almost in the 40th percentile for head size, but her body is more about the 15th. She was doing better about sleeping longer intervals through the night, but seems to have regressed a bit. Yesterday was her 2 month doctors appointment and she looked good. She did get her vaccines though. Poor baby. :( She has been doing well from them, but did fuss and cry a lot more in a I'm in pain way last night. She is now mostly back to normal in the crying department, but she is still a little more tired and sensitive today.
Here's a picture collection of her second month(The download mixed the order up, so they are just random, but from her second month of life):
